This is an update on the Matryoshka set of birds I did as a commission a while back. I finally have photographs of the entire set! The set is comprised of seven birds and they are arranged from largest to smallest in descending order: penguin, barn owl, macaw parrot, magpie, blue jay, chick, and a hummingbird. The recipient of the commission got to select which birds they wanted and I had a blast making this set. Here are the photos:

I have also started working on a smaller set this one is only owls, as I found the shape of an owl works quite well with the traditional shape of Matryoshka dolls. This set is only four pieces and they are going to be a great horned owl, barn owl, snowy owl, and a pygmy owl. Here is a photo of the work in progress:

You can see that the barn owl is complete, the great horned owl is nearly there, and the snowy and pygmy owls are still in the sketch phase.
I am working on this set and a couple more to throw up on etsy.com and see how they sell! I'll let you know how that goes. Thanks for reading/looking!
So cool!
ReplyDeleteLove this project. I think owls with all their beautiful patterns are stunning. And it's fun that they are going to be different ones.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!
